Maryville police investigating incidents where women were approached


MARYVILLE, Mo. - Maryville Public Safety is investigating two incidents where women were approached by a man they didn't know.

The first incident happened around 1:50 a.m. on September 20 near W. 19th and N. Grand Ave. The victim claims the suspect followed her to her apartment and attempted to force his way in, before fleeing.

The second incident happened at 7 p.m. on September 27 near W. 9th and Main. The victim says the suspect approached her as she was getting in her car and physically assaulted her. He fled after she fought back.

It's unknown if these two incidents are related. Police say the suspect in the most recent incident is described as a white man in his early 30s, around six feet tall, 180 pounds, with short black hair and no facial hair.
